Dust Blowing Out the Side of TS75

I normally keep the opening on the side of the -75 closed with duct tape in an effort to keep dust from escaping there.  The other day I was cutting hardboard and noticed dust blowing its way right out the opening and past the tape.  I had never noticed so much dust escaping *before* the end of my cuts.  I did have my CT-33 on max.

You probably already checked the bag and hose  :-\

But if you have been doing any ripping , especialy with one of the aggresive blades, check the saw port and inside the upper blade housing. I have had long stringy 'shavings'  from rip cuts build up in that spot , reducing the suction.

Hi Seth,

It's not the bag or the hose, there's plenty of suction there.  But thanks for the tip about checking the saw... I'll do that ASAP.  Like I said, I didn't recall that much dust being exhausted before.

BTW, does anyone know what the purpose of having that opening on the side of the TS-75 is ?  Is it just simply to allow one to read the markings on the face of the blade ? I'm just wondering whether I ought NOT to be covering it up.

One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes you can end up with too little "make-up air" for proper air flow through the blade housing. Admittedly, this doesn't really sound like the problem you have, but I thought I should mention it anyway. Nevertheless, it certainly can't hurt to check. Simply open a hole in the tape to allow some air to enter.
