Dust Hose Size

I've been using a 27mm hose on my CT26 since I fell into the blue and green abyss a few year back  [smile].  Recently however, I acquired both an MFT/3 and OF1400  [big grin].  While I haven't done a lot of heavy cutting work with the OF1400 yet (I understand a 36mm hose really helps in those situations), I have noticed a fair bit of sawdust coming out of the front end of my TS55--probably more a function of noticing it more using it on MFT.  So, I'm considering "upgrading" to a 36mm hose to help maximize my CT26 dust collection; but I am not yet convinced.  I've done some searching of old posts but still have some questions/confusion on hose size.  Would appreciate any feedback on the following:

1) I understand that 36 mm is the recommended hose size for the TS55, but I read on some posts that a 36mm hose really doesn't make a difference for the saw.  Will a 36mm hose improve dust collection on the TS55?

2) If I go to a 36mm hose, and make or buy a 27mm short hose adapter for other tools (e.g., ETS 150, Rotex 90, Domino 500), will the fact that the 36mm hose is most of the hose improve suction on these smaller tools?

Thanks in advance, understanding suction and air volume and flow are not my strong suits  [embarassed].

1)  The 36mm hose will definitely make a difference on all the tools that can accept it.  Simply put, there is more flow through (cfm) of air, carrying more dust.

2)  It will improve airflow on the smaller tools, but it is not needed.  It will be too much suction for the sanders to "float", other than that it is not detrimental, but also not necessary.  (By the way we sell pre-made whip hoses if you want to not cut up your existing hose, just give us a call)

The larger hose does make a small difference, but it's not a quantum leap.

Whilst the amount of air it can move will be increased, the reality is it's not going to make a huge difference on a lot of the tools where the dust extraction port/extraction route on the tool itself is smaller than diameter/area of the 27mm hose. In short it's the dust extraction path on most of the tools that creates the bottle neck, not the hose itself.

The D36 helps a bit on the TS55 but I would not call it a lot. It will do very little to get the dust that shoots out the front at the end of a cut.

D36 is over kill for the Domino, and sanders.

D36 helps a lot on the OF1400,  850 planer, Kapex, and 2200.

I bought the 36mm hose because my 27mm hose was clogging when used with my Leigh Dovetail jig.  I find that the 36mm hose performs better with my track saw, my Kapex and my Router.  I don't notice any difference with any of my sanders or with either Domino joiner.

Using my OF 1400 with the 27mm hose I had clogging issues, not so at all once I got a 36 mm hose.

Thanks, everyone for the feedback.

It think I'll stick with my 27mm as it is smaller and more maneuverable for most of what I do (domino 500, OF1010, rotex 90, carvex, ETS 150, TS55).  I still may pick up the 36mm for the OF1400 and run it as a second hose just for that as I get into more dados and other heavier use--will see.

Again, many thanks for the responses.
