dust hose solutions / issue

Hi

I am getting near to sorting my workshop and i want the dust extraction hose and electric cable to have the ability to raise out of the way when not in use...

i hope this is clear on the pics, i am at the moment laying out the length needed and location best suited. I want it to raise up to the horizontal beam.

My thoughts are a weighted pulley with a bolt/hinge at the left corner to pivot a length of timber enabling the largest degree of raise.

I hope this makes sense and any suggestions would be appreciated

Maybe a spring balancer? Not sure if the hose without tool weight will work with a balancer though.

I use a similar setup in one shop using a bungie cord attached to the ceiling.  The other setup I have is an over arm jig I made using  an old office chair base with six wheel and a 1" alluminum pipe and schedule 80 PVC 1 1/4" for the over hanging part that extends 3 feet.

thanks so much for the suggestions,

weird that, i just stumbled across the boom arm idea on a google search

i think that will be the easiest and best way for me to sort the issue

now to find time for the job!

Been a good week in the workshop, took delivery of the domino xl and next week a new larger planer/thicknesser!

I know this is off the subject, but is your shop made with SIP's? And on task PVC drain pipes in 1.5" and 1.25" make great boom arms for attachment to the outside and 3" and 4" if you want to place the hose on the inside, but ground the PVC, static build up can happen in some cases. Brent

By sips do you mean insulation boards?

No, Its a brick and tile construction 1900 building which I used solid polystyrene style insulation and then osb board to finish.

SIP's short for structural insulated panels, I build with them. The OSB , foam insulation in the corners and timber frame trusses. Thank you for the reply back. Brent
