The DW735 sure seems like it would be easy to set up with a metric depth scale and turret stop, maybe even the depth of cut indicator. Does anybody know if they are sold outside of North America? Looking on the UK and German Dewalt sites I don't see the 735, so maybe not?

The way the depth turret is built it would be easy for to convert it to metric (or cubits), the scale and the stop blocks are separate parts. Now I curious to know if the height adjustment could be converted to 1mm per revolution by changing the sprocket that drives the chain. That would be cool. Till then it is close enough to 1.5mm per turn for estimating adjustments.
All this because I bought some green tools and decided it would be easier to just do everything in metric. Wish I'd bought a TS75 before they ruined it.

I use the Wixleys also, and other coin cell measuring devices such as micrometers, at least 6-8 various tools...I learned a long time ago that the on/off switches bleed voltage. I now remove the batteries after use...I haven't bought a battery in a couple years.

I installed the Wixey on my DW735 and my Jet Performax 16-32, it adds great versatility and precision. The Wixey uses coin cells (CR2032 I think) but I find I get in the neighborhood of a year out of mine before the battery needs replacing.

I think that when the Wixey 510 was first designed, it was primarily designed for accuracy and affordability and the longevity of the batteries was really a 2nd or 3rd tier consideration. Remember, this was cutting edge measurement capabilities 8 or 9 years ago. The only comparable battery measuring method at the time were digital calipers that hovered in the $250 plus area whereas the 510 was around $70 at the time.
My auto key fob, Brown & Sharpe calipers and latest Wixey readout for the metal lathe all consume coin cells at the rate of every 3-4 years. While the early 510 for the Dewalt chews them up every 5-6 months.
If Wixey were to update this display, I’m sure it would be within the current expectations of battery life while still being affordable.

Lithium AAAs would probably handle that nicely - both for capacity and low self-discharge. Just ordered mine. Best price I found was at Acme Tool.

Well along with the AAA cell change, they also upgraded it to .0025” accuracy. Previously the accuracy was .005”. It’ll be interesting to see if the readout has also been changed.
