The description for the DWC18 states it is compatible with other brands of collated screws but it doesn't state wich ones.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

You can use any drywall or wood screws as long as they are on a plastic strip and are not longer then 55 mm.
In Europe drywall screw have typical PH2 heads and are normally black coated. Thread is coarse (wood) or fine (for metal).
You can also use other (wood)screws with PZ2 or TX20 heads, because Festool also sells these long bits.

I've heard more than once , out of Festool Reps mouths no less, that Senco and Grip Tite are compatible with running the DWC-18. I'm buying some later today or this weekend to compare to the Festool screws I already have.  So far, Festool favors boxes of 1000 and others seem to offer boxes of 800, but at a much lower price than that 200 fastener count gap alone accounts for.

Grip tite and senco screws are compatible for sure.  Already used at least  40 tubs of either one with no major issues even tho the grip time seems to jam a little less. They are available in most hardware stores.  I have yet to find a square drive bit so i can use the senco subfloor screws with this gun.

***simpson strips do not work with this gun

I use the Senco screws.  Work great.

Though I still have to keep my 2500rpm Senco around to use the square drive screws - of which I have a ton of Senco exterior wood, cement board, and subfloor screws.  Wish they'd release the 2500rpm DWC here.

Someone got one from overseas dealer and posted a bit about it.

Yeah, I remember that.  It's an option if I get itchy, but truthfully the Senco is just fine and probably won't die anytime soon.  We'll see if I can hasten its demise -- maybe the 2500 will be AINA by then.  [big grin]
