I need to get some sort of edgebander to increase productivity. Felder, Virutex and a Czech outfit called Adamik all seem to offer a virtually identical hot melt hand held unit - about 2K pounds in the UK; anyone know anything about them? Will it be better than current process: machining of wooden facings, gluing, pinning, routing. I can't run to a fancy fixed unit as I'd never get to amortize the cost.
I've never done anything more fancy with rolls of edgebanding than an iron and melamine, so any comments are welcome.

ive looked into this same tool once or twice as well

being a carpenter, you can guess my conclusion on the purchase cost

what i do know is that the consitancy of the bond is far better with this type of machine, than hot air gun machines

altough shop temperature and humidity changes have to be allowed for

Anyone else got any ideas. I've just made another load of home made "edgebands" out of wood and feel I'm making too much sawdust!

Have you checked out the Freud edgbander good enough for small runs.

Have used the virutex hand held edgebander for the past eight years and would definitely recommend it.

Did you ever get one of these portable gluepot edgebanders? I am now considering an upgrade from my Freud hot air tabletop.

I'm afraid I haven't - I bought a Virutex hot air one, but i'm still hoping to get the hot glue one one day - although I haven't really had much use for the one I've already got!

Richard and others

I was also looking at the hot air unit you bought and most recently the portable Virutex glue pot unit that can be mounted in a table. No place to see one here. I was wondering what you thought about the hot air unit you purchased. From the YouTube videos it looks like it works good but I always like firsthand experience. Would you buy the hot air unit again or stick with an Iron. Anyone else with experiences with these units?
