Hello dear Community!
I purchased a mentioned planer some time ago but I was never able to get a straight surface with it. Previously I was thinking that it's because of me and a lack of experience with using the tool. Recently I have realized that the front base moves too far when I set a depth o cut. It doesn't matter what depth I choose the plank of wood always hits the back plate after passing through a blade. When it's set to zero - both bases looks straight and on the same level even when checking with an edge of ruler.

The thing to mention is that I've purchased the tool second hand so guarantee repair is not an option. But the plane looks barely used.
Any ideas how can I fix the problem? Thank you for any answer in advance.
