I love my Festools, but I cannot for the life of me justify the expense of the cleaning attachments for the CT, how much better than Shop Vac cheapos can they be?  Any way, the shop vac attachments mostly have he same OD as the CT hose.  I wandered around through my local Ace hardware and found a great fix.  For $5 I got a 6 foot long piece of 1.25ID foam pipe insulation.  As it turns out this stuff is slit on the side, but the slit isn't all the way through the wall.  I cut a four inch section for each of the attachment I wanted to use and can now plus the CT hose in without hassle.

I have been using Fernco fittings for the od matching fittings.  I think your idea sounds even better.

I went to Home Depot and bought 2, 1-1/4" vac extensions, a brush and a floor attachment in the shop vac dept. Slide on over to plumbing, get a 1" to 3/4" COPPER reducer. The 1" end slides snugly into the extension. The 3/4 end fits perfectly in the CT22 hose end. I've been using it with no adhesives to hold it in the extension. Cost aprx $20.00

thanks for the tip. i had been using a fernco adapter but that wasn't working out too well. i bought the 3/4" x 1" copper adapter at hd for $3. the festool hose  fit perfectly into the 3/4 " end but the  1" end was a little loose on the plastic extension. a wrap with electrical tape took up the slack and now it's very tight. thanks again. :)

Monju,   Thanks.  I already had a pile of copper AND 1 1/4  vac parts. I was looking at a kit, but now I have a few more bucks to spare. Thanks again.

Good inexpensive vac adaptors can be found here.

Michael,

Thanks for posting that link to Fein's line of vacuum accessories including hose adapters.  I have both a CT 22 with many Festool accessories and also a Fein Turbo II with the Wet-Dry Acessory kit (floor sweeping et al.), and find that I prefer using the Fein items for most jobs.  And they are less expensive.

i bought the reducer and after using the setup i was getting frustrated because  the end that went into the hose is only about an inch long and kept slipping out. i solved that problem by extending it with a short piece of 3/4" copper pipe and a 3/4" coupling.
now there is no slippage at all.

I have used rubber "no-hub" plumbing connectors, the ones with a hose clamp on each end,  as adapters for years.  Just get one slightly larger than the end you need to slip it over and tighten the hose clamp.  They are leak-proof on all smooth fittings.  I have one on my Bosch sliding miter saw to connect to my CT33 hose and it works perfectly.  I added a "skirt," made from inner tube and mounting tape, to the blade guard for additional dust entrapment and it catches about 80% of the dust.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to thank you guys for the copper reducer & coupling idea.  It works great, and it's a cheap way for me to use all my 1-1/4" shop-vac style accessories with the CT22.  Thanks!
