Really fun build, but took longer than expected.. I figured 4.5 days and turned into 6.5 days...anyhow it's just primed and hardware has not been delivered yet...posts and lattice work are clear redwood...ellipse and gates are Extira (exterior mdf)...scribe fitted 6x6's around masonry columns..

Thanks guys...scribe fit a piece of 1/2 mdf to column, transferred to 6x6. Cut out most of 6x6 with multiple cuts with skill-saw then cleaned up with chisel ....for the bull-nose brick detail I used a drill with hole saw ,across entire 6x6...took me a day to scribe, cut, prime & install just the two 6x6's

Beautiful work, really nice. I've never worked with Extira but I've heard that painting it can be challenging due its oily surface. How was the gate finished?

Looks great. A couple questions.
Is this your design? It looks very familiar...
Are the posts bolted to the existing fence or are they buried into the ground?
Tim

@ leaky roof....it's just primed...I am a horrible painter, but I always prime exterior work...I put two heavy coats ,looks kinda like ts already painted. Extira is amazing, to say the least..

@ Tim...no it's not my design...designer gave me three pics off of houzz, of different gates. We took details she liked from each picture and came up with this...I also made full scale drawing with 2x4 and rosin paper in opening, just to make sure everyone was happy... 6x6 posts are anchored to column with four  1/2" red-heads in each posts and Sika-flex adhesive for insurance...posts are slightly elevated off concrete ...the 4x4 gate jambs are lag screwed to 6x6's...

Awesome work Dave. If ya ever get out to Austins, please tell Drew  and Randy at Austins that I made it and settling in.

Sancho?  You look different now..... I will tell them for sure.  I still can't believe you moved to Europe , just to be closer to the festool promise land.. Man, you've taken this green sickness to a new level!

it looks great!!! I have a lot of patience but i'm not real sure i have the patience (or skill) to make the amazing scribe cuts you made.  Nicely done

Thanks, I probably saw something like it on Houzz. I spend a bit too much time on there when I visit.
They are trying to sell me some paid listing, but the rep can't get their sh*t together to actually call when she said she would.

I really like how the radius/curve of the gate meet/join the arch over the gate at the gate jam. That is a really beautiful detail and well executed.

I forgot to ask, did you use a domino XL on this?

Nice photo's too.
