Hi,

I heard the rumble of the UPS truck backing into my drive today.....   New ETS150/5...  So thats how a sander is supposed to work!   I tried it out on some scrap pieces man what a differance !!.
Also of interest- The catalog says that it comes with one sanding disk. But it actually has a nice packet of about 15 disks. Well thought little assortment so you can try several types and grits. One Platin, one saphire? (36gr?), several Rubin, and Brilliant in a couple of grits each.

semenza,
The 150/5 is a terrific sander.  I've always loved how smooth it is, and of course the dust collection is excellent.

I got my 150/5 almost four years ago.  Since then, Festool has made some small improvements to the sander, which you will be able to take advantage of.

When I got mine, it did not come with a packet of discs.  That must be something new.  Good for you to point it out, since it doesn't say that in the Web description.  I just checked the Festool USA site, and it says that the 150/5 comes with "1 abrasive sheet."

Make sure to report back when you use the sander in a project!

Hi,

Yes, and it still says "one abrasive disk" in the new 07 catalog. Anyway it is a plus for those purchasing. Festool will probably sell more types of paper if new purchasers get to try some of them this way.  Seems like a win  win.  The selection is useful too. The grits cover a broad range, and are on the type of paper most likely to be used for that particular grit. Except for the Platin and Saphire, there are two or three sheets of each. Making it actually possible to do a project right out of the box before having to even order any paper.  Nice!

Are the extra disks courtesy of Festool or your ISA?

Michael, My ETS 150/3 came with one sheet, however, the 125 sanders I have came with the pack and they are from Festool, not an ISA.

HI,

I am pretty sure they were from Festool. They were packed in the Systainer in a sealed  ID labeled palstic wrapper.  Bob M. Did you add them in?

Perhaps this is a new add in , and some are slightly older stock.

Seth,

No, not from me, the sanders are being dhipped with a nice assortment of papers from Festool - a good idea I think!

Bob

I would change that to "A great idea!"  Why?  'cause when I purchased my first Festool, an RO125 it came with one disk, and I guessed wrong with the first pack of abrasives that I bought - 50 grit Rubin was not aggressive enough for sanding old plaster cracks, and I wasn't sure of what to say when my wife asked how that very expensive new machine was working!  Another 55 mile round trip to my nearest stocking dealer.  A change to 36 grit Saphir? made a huge difference - from slowly sanding to burnishing the hard top coat of plaster to carving it away into many particles large enough to fall to the floor!  I now have a pretty good assortment of grits on hand in both Brilliant and Rubin and 25 grit Saphir for my next attack on old, cracked plaster.  A very smart move on Festool's part, IMO.

When I bought my ETS 150/3 a few months ago at the local Woodcraft, it came with a nice assortment of discs. However, I just bought a RO150 FEQ from McFeely's this week and it came with only 1 Brilliant 120 disc.  I would have thought the more expensive sander would have also shipped with the assortment pack.

Also, the systainer did not have the usual owner's decal that McFeely's has supplied for my other Festool purchases.

Hopefully, I will get a chance to use the RO150 sometime this week.
