Hi there. Is it possible to replace some gear/part inside of etsec150/3 body to archive that 5mm orbital movement instead of mentioned 3mm ? Models looks identical otsude, so i wonder does some inside modification could be done to do that? I know its sounds crazy, but maybe its a matter of one part...

While it’s probably easier to just go and buy a new or use 5 sander, you could go to Festool EKAT, look up your exact model of sander, and compare the drawings to the 5 version and see what the differences are (I don’t know what changes the orbit). Then, you theoretically, could buy those parts, tear apart the sander and make the change.

When you compare both machines in the Ekat the only real difference in the /3 and /5 is the entire fan assembly (item 6). However it's not so much a matter of parts being swappable but more a matter of getting it apart without causing damage. The main bearing is pressed in and it sucks to get it out, let alone without damage. Not a fun job and at 132€ + shipping I'd rather get a second hand model for just about twice the cost but a fraction of the trouble.

Probably a good idea to just get brand new bearing as well. Make sure you push/pull on the appropriate bearing race (inner or outer)
