My sander recently started not turning on sometimes. The power button on it felt off, so I assumed that was the problem. It's 7 years old, so way out of warranty. I sent it to the service center and they're replacing the power switch and board it is connected to, variable speed control and the board it is connected to, and motor housing. It's an over $300 repair. I told them to go for it, but I'm wondering what could have caused all of that?
On a side note, I bought the Bosch 6" as a backup. It sands as good, but there's no comparison with the Festool's weight, ergonomics, and vibration control. I have to take breaks in between grits to let my hands and arms rest.
