Would anyone know (or is in a position to divulge) of any price increases for 2011 for any of the power tools?

Thank you very much.

Brian

DOH!  [scared] [eek] [crying]

Hope not!

Here's some random trivia.

In the 2009 price increases, here are the three items that increased by the most (percentage wise):
493846 Coarse 30 mm sponge, 5 per pack 35.70%
494847 DOMINO hand rail fence                 33.30%
492526 Centrotec Hook Driver/Adapter                 25.00%

The items with the largest dollar increase, were all air sander packages!  These were the only increases over $50.00
Item # Item Description                               Pre-2009 Price 2/09 % Change $ Change
pa3691124 7" Sander LEX2 185/7 package A 1248.5 1348.70 8.00% 100.20
pa3691125 6" Sander LEX2 150/7 package A 1198.5 1294.04 8.00%   95.54
pa3691126 6" Sander LEX2 150/3 package A 1198.5 1294.04 8.00%   95.54
PB3691124 7" Sander LEX2 185/7 package B 805  884.95 9.90%   79.95
PB3691125 6" Sander LEX2 150/7 package B 755  829.96 9.90%   74.96
PB3691126 6" Sander LEX2 150/3 package B 755  829.96 9.90%   74.96

Interestingly, almost all of the abrasives saw about a 10%-12% increase.

The most expensive item in the Festool list is the Kapex + CT33, which went up 1% ($18) to $1822, and is the current package price.

here in the U.K. festool prices go up in january, for example the of1400 router has went up from 431 gbp to 504 gbp overnight, even allowing for a v.a.t.(local sales tax) rise of 2.5% which came into effect overnight as well, that was almost a 15% price rise for the router, luckily i bought one just before the deadline.

I sure hope there is some notice posted if prices are rising... I have my eye on OF1400....

Here in The Netherlands prices went up, exactly on January 1st. The raise was about 4-5%.

I went on a splurge just before the new year (and our VAT rise).

OF2200 Set - last week £862, this week £974.  Rise due to VAT increase: £18, "price increase": £94

Domino + Dowel & Cutter Assortment - last week £714, this week £813.  Same proportions vat rise and price rise....

RO125 - last week £343, this week £394

Ouch.  That all my buying done for a while.

Good grief man, you have faaaaar too much time on your hands! You should take up a hobby. Woodworking, for example  [poke] [thumbs up] [popcorn]

Hehe, I work on a computer all day... sometimes I have a smidge of free time.

I found the entire list on McFeely's... copied it down into Excel and just did some sorts.  Proved to be interesting (to me, at least).

I do need to get out and make some sawdust soon... With the holidays and workload its been a while.  [crying]

In the past few years, at least, Festool USA has generally coordinated its price increases with the publication of a new catalog.  This seems to happen in the spring.  I wouldn't wait too long to pull the trigger on any tool purchases you have planned.
Understandably, the lid is kept pretty tight on pricing changes.  Hopefully, Festool will show some restraint due to the slow economy.

Jesse, I hope you are right and Festool decides to give at least a little notice.

Where do you work?

I used to live in Sun Prairie, did a lot of Consulting around Madison with Berbee... Who knows, maybe we met already...

With the USD now at least 10% higher than same time last year, we should be expecting a price decrease, shouldn't we?

Unfortunately, it is not going to happen, price increases are a one way street at least for high quality tools. In 2009 a lot of manufacturers like lie-Nielsen  raised prices due to the then high price of steel and low USD , since then things have changed dramatically but the prices remain the same.

My Woodcraft dealer had informed me a while ago that Lie-Nielsen had changed their sales policy selling direct to customers outing the distributors and dealers of their normal take in the chain.  Notice how discounts at Woodcraft do not apply to Lie-Nielsen?  My guess is they did this to stay afloat in the bad economy.

... he says as if he had never heard of the WoodRiver plane.

Hadn't you noticed when Woodcraft started offering their WoodRiver line of planes that they looked an awful lot like the Lie-Nielsen planes that they also had for sale?  You would likely change your sales policy too.

I was also told that they started carrying that line so the Woodcraft chain could make a decent profit.  They aren't ordering in any more Lie-Nielsen so what they have left is it.  The store I deal with has always been very open and honest about their business with me.
