ok so a while ago i bought a kapex. i already had a midi vac so connected it up and had the hastle of the long hose and taking the hoover back out from under the ug kart if i wanted to use it with another tool. ts55 for example.

since festool had a £50 off voucher ive picked up a ctl26 also. its getting delivered later on this week. ive also ordered a tradesmans cleaning set with the 36mm hose.

my initial plan was to cut the hose down to a 1500mm or whatever length is suitable and use it permanently with the kapex. and use the ctl26 for other stuff.

has anyone done this or has anyone found a supplier for short lengths of hose so i can keep the full length 36mm hose for use with other stuff?

cheers guys

I would be interested in a shorter 36mm hose also - I have your exact set-up with the ct26, Kapex and 11.5 ft 36mm hose from my tradesman kit. It seems to me that there was a source (at least here in the US) of shorter 36mm hose that a Festool dealer fashioned.I hate the idea of cutting up my current hose as I could use it elsewhere. My CT26 is stored directly under my Kapex and I could use a hose length of about 5 or 6 ft I think - plus it would provide better extraction.

Hi Fin
I cut a 36mm AS hose down for my workshop Kapex and it makes a big difference - a deep breath and a single cut [unsure]

I cut the 36 mm on the Kapex, no issues in doing this.

I then ordered the replacement cuffs and a Y adapter, I used the balance of the 36 mm hose with the CMS. This idea came from a member here, wish I could remember who so I can give him credit, but I'm old and forgetful.

For my general 36 mm hose I use my Planex hose.

a lad i know whos a member on here im sure uses a combination of cut down hoses which he says works well. unles i was mistaken like.

are short lengths not available from festool? why not?

i take it i can cut the hose down and then remove which ever end and refit it to the now shorter length?

but then i have a length of hose approx 2 metres and no ends. so can i buy the ends to make up a hose to connect to the 27mm hose or to the ct26 say directly?

what would be good is being able to buy a short length and 2 fittings i guess.

If only you were in the United states.  We sell premade "Kapex hoses".

But they are NAOUSA (Not available outsite USA)

I did the same with mine cut the grey non anti static hose exactly in half and it works much better than the 27mm full length hose.

I just kept the other half for when and if the first one wears out. Yes you can get all the hose ends separately.

that might be better than cutting the hose up. then i still have a long hose to use with my planer etc

haha its a shame they dont sell em here like tbh. i got sick of my 27mm hose being all coiled up and it cant do the suction much good or the dust going round all those bends either.

Assuming there are two of you that would want this, one of you needs to buy the following items, cut the hose in half, and then add the rotating adapter and the reducing sleeve to either cut end accordingly. Then ship one of the hoses to the other person. All in should be about £67 each incl. VAT and would give you a 1.75M (or less if you choose) hose each. Then there's just a single delivery charge to send it on to your partner.

452882 Festool Suction hose D 36 antistatic D 36x3,5m-AS (~ £99)
452894 Festool Antistatic rotating adapter D 36 DAG-AS (~ £21)
487721 Festool Reducing sleeve, antistatic D 36 DM-AS (~ £14)

There are some small savings if there are three or four of you by using the 5M or 7M AS hoses if you like, but not much.

Of course, non-AS is a little cheaper if you so choose at about £48 each incl. VAT (although you're about £5 off free delivery!)

452881 Festool Suction hose D 36 D 36x3,5m (~ £65)
452893 Festool Rotating adapter D 36 DAG (~ £16)
487721 Festool Reducing sleeve, antistatic D 36 DM-AS (~ £14)

* pricing correct as of 31/08/2015 based on http://www.powertool-supplies.co.uk

If you don't already have a 36mm hose for your other tools you could buy the 5m 36mm hose, cut off the short length you require for the kapex add the rotating adaptor and reducing sleeve and then you will still have a long hose for other applications. Cheapest I've seen the 5m hose is on nuts and bolts eBay shop £126.00 inc delivery.

bought a tradesmans cleaning set now so thinking should i just get the extra end bits and then buy a couple of meters of hose from the site linked earlier on for £27 a meter

I'm in the same predicament as fin, regarding the 36mm hose. I've been around this problem looking for the most economical way so many times my head hurts.
Unfortunately down here the hoses and connectors are priced ridiculously high.

What I have found is a part no, 768114.  36mm X 3m anti static tapered suction, this hose is half the price down here of the standard 36mm X 3.5m anti static hose.

Anyone know, [member=11629]GarryMartin[/member] Garry seems to know his stuff.  if this would work and which connectors would I need to get this hose to connect to the Kapex.
Thanks.

I've not seen the hose myself, but from what I understand, it's 36mm most of the way and then tapers to 32mm at the tool end so that you get almost as good a performance as the standard 36mm, but with a little more flexibility at the tool end.

I assume it would work OK on the Kapex. [member=19325]bigchas[/member] purchased one by mistake and was considering using it for his Kapex. Perhaps he'll join the conversation and advise if he did?

Thanks Garry, That's very helpful.
It would be good if the 36mm tapered hose, was actualy 36mm most of the way, as Obviously I only need half of the 3m length. Hopefully someone who has used this hose with a Kapex will comment.
