F clamp not holding

Hello,  I have been following this very helpful forum since I purchased my first festools this past July during the plunge saw promo.  I purchased the TS55 / MFT package, and some "f"clamps. (and since then have picked up the OF1010, CTmidi, an RO125... you know how the story goes around here).  In short, extremely pleased with everything, but recently developed an annoying little problem.

One of my F clamps keeps slipping under pressure.  Sometimes I crank it down and it just never tightens down... As the pressure increases, the handle should wedge itself against the metal bar and stay put, but I keep screwing the handle but it just slides right down the metal bar until the threads bottom out.  Sometimes it seems to clamp down, but as soon as I start putting it under any pressure.... say hitting the clamped piece with the sander, it gives up its grip and the work slides out.  I recently clamped a guide rail on a critical cut and as soon as I put the saw on the rail and started her up, I watched the clamp handle vibrate itself right down the bar and just dangle there. [blink]

I was thinking of trying to roughen up the surface of the metal bar with something as it seems like there is not enough friction.  However, I don't want to remove any material as that would probably make things worse???  Has anyone else run into this problem?

Sounds like a duff clamp to me!

I wouldn't bother trying to fix it - just contact Festool USA & get it replaced.

Just wanted to mention here that thanks to Shane, Festool USA got a replacement for me.  Thank you for your attentive customer service.
