Man these two companies are parasites. Try to opt out of their emails. Now Temu is flooding FOG and other sites with promo messages and completely ignoring the forum rules in the process. I had purchased a few things from both companies in the past, with uneven results. Now I will never buy from them again.

I don't see any Temu spam ads in other woodworking forums I visit now and then. Is this a FOG problem; it has got worse after the switch to a new platform. Or, maybe other forums have better technical tools or better management (in terms of no. of moderators who check the forum more frequently) to stop the spam.

Already since the switch, this forum has been more like a ghost town, both in terms of new topics (unless you count the 10 spam posts we just have had) and level of participation. They were dropping before the switch but have become worse. Sorry to say that FOG is edging towards to join Woodnet and Woodcentral, which I haven't been to for a long time.

Whether or not the participation level has decreased due to one thing or another is virtually impossible to determine. I would add that this time of year woodworkers who have limited spare time very often have to add in more outdoor activities and possibly chores than they would have to account for in the cooler months. That does happen and even the tool manufacturers plan accordingly.

As far as the recent spate of spam posts, I'm sure it's only temporary. With new tech to power the forum and bring it to modern times, seems that also means dealing with bots that are designed to invade modern forums. I suspect that the only FOG platform was just too obscure in the 2020s for spam developers to bother with.

I suspect the Temu spam appearing here does not originate from Temu
I think you're bang on here. I've not seen Temu spam anywhere like I've seen here, and even being a massive Temu customer for years I've never once been spammed by them. Even with Banggood who I've bought many tim,es from, only send a flyer once a week or so maybe.

Despite buying from Bangood and Alixpress I have never had ads sent to my email address though I have seen others comment on it. I never see ads at all on the internet including YouTube and all it takes to do that is a few ad blockers though YT is getting to be a bit of a challenge lately. I liken the internet to buying a magazine, they were filled with ads and we accepted it but with the right precautions I can cruise the internet without ads but I couldn't read a magazine without seeing them.

All (unrequested) Banggood emails for e.g. sales and offers are filtered by Gmail and go straight into the advertisement folder.
Every single one of their emails has a button to unsuscribe from any newsletter or advertisement though.
