Fastfix angle attachment DD-AS problem

Hi all, the afore mentioned unit has broken.
I was drilling a pilot hole with it and the drill jammed to a stop, if I tap the unit body smartly it works again for a few seconds then stops.
I suspect the gears have partially stripped or something like that.
I will be contacting Festool UK about it but wonder if this is a rare problem or not as the unit has only seen active service 3 or 4 times since new and nothing strenuous.

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rob,

Used the right angle attachment loads of time , never had any problem with it, always taken it to be a substantial heavy duty bit of kit. Used it with  augers and drills and large and small screws. Never heard of any problems reported

Thanks John, I've used it with a max 8mm festool brad point bit and on small screws fitting cornice to kitchen cabinets so was a bit gobsmacked when it failed. Just wanted some background history before ringing TTS in Morning.

Rob, yours is the first report of failure that I read here on the FOG since oct 2008, so I guess this isn't a common problem.

Mine like Johns, still like new & it has had a lot of use.

I ve used 2" augers through pitch pine joists and put those 12" torx head screws in with mine no problem and it still feels as tight as when it was new,
