Fein ASCM 18V Gun *** Problems

Hi There,

I'm wondering if anybody has the same drill and same problems as me...

Initially, I thought this was an amazing drill.  Super powerful, awesome torque...possibly too much.  However, it drills through metal like a champ.

After a year of use, the tool has gone kaput.  I opened up the motor and realized that it will turn on if I rotate it one movement (or click) by hand and then squeeze the trigger. I'm attaching a video.

I'm very much into German tools (I own Festool and Mafell) and thought Fein (slightly more affordable in the drill world) would be a great addition since I already own a vacuum and multimaster.

Is this possibly just a defective one or is this something that other users are having?  Is there a way to fix it?  I have been in touch with Fein to go about repairing it (at my cost they say!).

This drill looks very like a PDC! Not really seen much of Fein drills myself..

The problem sounds just like a tool that has worn brushes in the motor, but that motor looks like it might be brushless?
I thought Fein tools had 3yrs warranty like festool no? You've only had it a year or so?

Yup, three year warranty on this drill. But likely void if you tear it apart and start tinkering with it.  [blink]

Put it back together and contact Fein for warranty support.
