Looks like there are a couple new ones on the verge of being released. One from Bosch and one from Dremel:

Wow.

That Bosch is the ugliest tool I've ever seen. Really, you can't do that by accident: tools
tend to look great "naturally", via the form-follows-function principle. I guess someone
at Bosch's I.D. department decided it needed some "styling".

Then you must have missed this...

Theres also the Bosch blue professional cordless version about to be released (in Europe, anyway):

.

The Bosch blades will fit the old Fein without the star fitting, or you can take a needle file to them to make them fit the new Fein.

The green Bosch feels a bit cheap & nasty IMO.

Good God ---- that thing looks like it comes from the Beluga Whale School of Design.  I wasn't too sure about it at first but the "+ Laser" thing makes all the difference.  Put me down for two.

Neil, do you or does anyone else have a link to that blue bosch multi tool.  In the european sites, I've only found the green/homeowner one, not the blue professional.  I want to see the spec's on power, blades available, etc.
thanks.

I suspect that Neil found the photo athttp://www.getwoodworking.com/news/article/mps/uan/215 (nice catch Neil!), which has the following accompanying text:

Bosch Cordless Multitool

11 / 07 / 08

The GOP 10.8 V-Li Professional weighs just 1.1kg and has an operating movement of up to 20,000 oscillations per minute that allows precise cutting and sawing, with the same speed and removal rate of a corded tool.

The multisaw is powered by a 1.3 Ah lithium-ion battery and has a 195-watt motor. The batteries use Bosch "Premium Lithium-ion Technology" that provides extended battery life and run time due to ECP (Electronic Cell Protection). A battery charger indicator and 30-minute charger are supplied with the tool.

The multi-tool is ideal for fine and delicate sawing, filigree adjustments in wood and plunge cuts in dry walls and solid wood. The tool also provides a means of grinding and scraping materials from wood and tiles and sanding stone and wood. Due to its compact design, the tool can reach difficult areas and works well in tight spaces.

The GOP 10.8 V-Li Professional is supplied with two Ah lithium-ion batteries and a range of Bosch accessories including, five sanding sheets and Velcro-type backing plate, a 28mm universal plunge cutting plate and an Allen key.

The Bosch cordless multicutter GOP 10.8 V-Li Professional will be available through all Bosch registered stockists from September 2008 at an SSP of approximately ?145.00 ex VAT. Customers can register their purchase for a three-year warranty online by visiting www.boschpowertools.co.uk

A press release with similar wording can also be found on thehttp://www.cpbsonline.eu website

I have absolutely no idea of what I am going to use that cordless blue bosch for, but my crocodile brain says "buy buy buy"...  ;D

I'm a big fan of the 10.8 driver.  If Bosch did as well with this saw, save one for me.  My multi master is on it's last legs and I was going to flip for the updated model, now maybe I'll nurse it along a bit.

Hi Hoover,

The link that Forrest posted is all the information I have.  It will be interesting to see if they expand the range of blades etc. from those they already have for the green diy model.  I'm 99.9% sure that the fein accessories will fit anyway, albeit without the anti-slip benefit of the star pattern hole, but it would be nice to have Bosch versions which are a bit less extortionate!

Neil

Thanks Neil.  Yeah, the competition should put pressure on Fein to lower the prices, especially on those blades.  I love the fein MM but the cost is too much to pay, so I'll wait and check out the bosch.

Hi all--

The Bosch will be available on October 1st.

I already reordered it on Amazon. The Carpenter set, with everything was $219. I can't wait!

I'm happy with the corded power of my supercut. :-)

I'll second that...

That T-shaped wrench thingy in the picture, is that to fasten the blade nut? (mine has a L-shaped allen key, with a philips head on the other end)

BTW, rumour has it that they're introducing a new one with quick release blade change.
