Yes, the 27 mm hose connects perfectly to the smaller dust port for the Multimaster.

Hi Seth, Hi all,
Thanks for the info!
I don't have a Festool vac yet..  Soon, I hope [smile].  I am currently using a Ridgid shopvac with a Festool hose adapted to it.  Works well but really noisy.  I have my tools set up in an enclosed basement so dust extraction has become super important.  The extractor kit for the Multimaster looks pretty slick and I've heard it works pretty well.

I just received a MM with Dust Extraction.  Is it just mine or does the plastic vacuum attachment tend to pull away from the MM at the head of it?  Meaning it clips in to the tool firmly at the base but does not want to stay put at the top???  Also, what are the two cotton O rings for?  I see how they fit on but are they necessary?  I don't plan to use this for sanding so has anyone used the dust extraction for other like grout removal?  Any pics of theirs set up with the dust extractor and a blade would be great, thank you.

Yeah ...  ::) the DC on the MM blows. I usually don't even bother to put the dumb thing on anymore, doesn't seem to do much. I've tried it for detail sanding, grout removal and cutting.
No it isn't just your machine wood pulp. I've tried all kinds of ways to keep that thing on and it manages to work itself loose. Also tried the cotton rings and they didn't seem to make any difference for anything.
The MM is a great tool. However I think the dust extraction set-up is just some garbage Fein came up with as an afterthought so they could jump on the DC bandwagon.

The sanding pad is what holds the head end of the dust extraction in place. The felt rings ride against the back of that pad to both seal the airway and as the pressure point for holding the dust channel in place. The manual only shows using the dust extraction with the sanding pad with holes and the triangular rasp.

I don't see it as usable with the cutting blades.

Ya its for sanding only not cutting. I've used the larger sanding disc and the delta pad specific for sanding and it worked fine for me. maybe for about an hour or two tops total was all I've had the opportunity to use the extractor attachment but I had no trouble with it coming loose. the wee rings are to ensure a snug fit around the extraction holes on the back of the sanding attachment.

I totally agree with this statement.  It is unfortunate, however.  I really don't need it for sanding, mostly for cutting tasks.  And, cutting tasks that create a lot of dust.  [eek]  In fact, I was really excited about having dust collection on the Fein, I ordered a CT Midi to pair with it!

I've used my Fein MM to redo grout for tiles, and there is a noticeable difference running the tool without any DC. So for me, although the DC culd be better, I leave it hooked up for cutting old grout out, with my CT-22 attached and running.
I have more problems with the Fein competing with any of my Festool Delta Sanders, leaving DC out of the equation.
They outwork it for sanding easily, with much better dust collection to boot.  [embarassed]
For wood or other cutting, the blade is far enough away as others have noted that getting dust pulled back to the pick-up nozzle/ring at the spindle is not really going to happen.
