I'm trying to find a blade for my Supercut that would be suitable for removing mortar from between bricks. I'm replacing a series of windows with a slider unit and need to carefully remove enough brick to create the rough opening. Google search yields a "Fein Supercut Mortar Raking Kit fsc 1.6x. Links to this are all in the UK. Is there an attachment available here in the states that will do the job?

Thanks,

Stuart

You can use the ones for the multi cut. They make an adapter that is included with the new ones so you can do this.

I saw a picture of the mortar kit on rexcrystal's website a few years ago, it consisted of a shorter blade for the harder pointed mortar, and a longer blade to cut out the brick when the pointing was cut through. I asked a fein rep about it shortly after I saw it online, and they told me it weren't Fein accesories, I tried looking it up recently, but can't find anymore pictures of it (it isn't on the site anymore where I spotted it earlier).

I was interested in it at the time, because the arbortech allsaw I have doesn't work efficiently on harder mortar types, (it's a bit improved since the introduction of the black colored blades, but still not ideal).

@ tallgras
The previous model supercut also came with an adapter for the multimaster blades (the thing you need to use for the sanding pad).
As far as I know there don't exist such attachments for the multimaster. (they do for removing grout between tiles, but the ones specific for the supercut work better for this)

I didn't know their was a blade for a Fein to cut out mortar for bricks but to be honest.
I don't think I would use my Fein for doing that! The oscillation is far to small for a job like that plus it would put a lot more strain on the tool.

The Arbortech is the best tool for the job has larger cutting strokes than the Fein and large heavy duty metal blades.

I love my Arbortech is has been super handy for when I need low dust and easy removal of bricks.

I believe every bricklayer should have one in their standard tool collection. Like a joiner has a chop saw brick layer should have a Arbortech.  Saying that most bricklayers only have a bucket of tools they bring to the job.  They always seem to expect a Stihl saw and mixer supplied.  One job I worked on I remember really well what this one bricklayer said when he turned up "oh no Stihl saw supplied? Well ill have to bring mine tomorrow but I will have to charge for it"  [mad]

Anyway!
Even the Arbortech has its limits with harder stuff bounces about so I just can't see the Fein ever being upto the job.

Another abortech user they are extremely well built and work great

Stuart, to directly answer your question, YES, there are diamond coated blades available for your Supercut. I have been using the Imperial Blades 730 model for years, cutting holes for electrical boxes in plaster and making cuts in stucco, and have been very happy with its performance and life span. This blade IS available with a Supercut arbor, and will be a GREAT addition to the Vecturo when it is released. Well worth the money. I hope this helps!!
