Here's the company that make the tables for both Felder and Martin. A very similar table from Martin is now on sale for about $2600.00 USD. While ridiculous in price to some, extremely useful to others.

Barth, like Aigner are the company's that have some extremely useful products that some may find helpful in their shop. Barth is sold by Rangate and Martin USA. I have no connection  to either except as a happy customer.

this is the one i have.  when i was a contract welder i hurt my back and i stayed out of the shop for quite a while.  luckily it was not permanent damage but nevertheless when i set up a woodworking and metalworking shop again, this dayton hydraulic table was the very first thing i bought.  mine has 1000 lbs capacity and i got it from grainger.  if i remember right it was in the same price range as the felder for the options i got.  it's been invaluable for loading and unloading heavy stuff, handling sheet goods, assembly of various size pieces.  the importance of good ergonomics cannot be overstated especially as i get older.  a good solid tool that has so many uses, some of which you don't even think of at first when you get it.  like working on my snowblower last season and not waking up with my back all in knots.  like setting it up for my kids' height so they can build their magnetic toy city on it.
so yeah, if you're just piddling around the shop, it might seem ridiculous, but if you do a big variety of things, you might, as they say, find it a bargain at twice the price. i would be suspicious of hydraulic stuff in the bargain basement price range.
now i got to go and figure out how to shoehorn one of these felder babies into my shop...

Anyone else notice the octagonal piece is being held by Festool clamps but has biscuit cuts in it!  for shame, should be dominoed... [tongue]

Thanks for posting, this is a pretty interesting piece of equipment. It may be expensive but very versatile. Woodworking, motorcycles, small engine repair, a mobile lift for heavy items, something for everyone.

I have been looking at this one from Harbor Freight
to use as a sanding / finishing table. I had to use a step ladder to finish the top of a piece last week using a 30" table

The felder is way to expensive and overpriced.

I called up a while ago to ask to give me a price for two of the felder MFTS and I was shocked how much he said they cost. 

So I bought  two 300kg lifting platforms for much less than just 1 felder.

Annoying I found some 500kg for even less than the 300kg I bought.

Not being funny felder are ripping people off on those.  No way should they cost that much when you can buy two lifting platforms  much larger and take more weight.

You can then simply make your own MDF top on some batterns and you have your self a felder MFT.

I just can understand why felder are so expensive.  I really wanted two buy two and tried to get the felder rep to knock as much off as possible but it just wasn't worth it he knocked off a little for wanting two.

Its a shame really would have liked a couple.

If the entire unit is the expected quality of a Felder tool, the price is realistic. It is going to be better than the Grainger units that we have bought for $1100 or so. The older US made units that we bought 20 years ago were close to $1000 at THAT time and still working well.

I can't tell you about the 1000lb one from HF but I have one of the 500lb ones that seem near identical. We use it specifically for one job where it needs to be light enough for one person to get in and out of a pickup. Last one made it about 2 years and 60-80 uses so plenty good for hobby use and well worth the price. I'm about to pick up another now that they are on sale for $159. We will learn and make the customization of the top table transferable to the next one 2 years from now.

I know a number of people in the UK have bought old hospital beds at auction and converted them into mobile, adjustable height work benches. A cheaper solution than any of the other suggestions.
