This spring my wife has requested I refinish our 29 year old wood kitchen floor.  Lucky for me it is a small footprint becuause we have a large island so it's just a small section of flooring on the end and sides.  Will the 150 FEQ ROTEX handle this?  I used it on some of my deck but ended up doing most of the deck with the RAS 150.
How do you experts handle the transition between the carpeting and the wood floor?

The  Rotex will handle this without problem. It will take you some time though. There are faster solutions, but since you mention the area is not too big it might be more economical to use the Rotex. If you have a RAS it is also worth trying that one out, might be a bit faster than the Rotex.

Depends,

Are you taking the floor down to the bare wood or just scuffing it up to update the top coat?

Up dating the top coat yea Id use the FEQ 150.  Totaling refinishing the floor taking it down to bare wood, Id look for other options.

it can do it, but it will take time

I have done it on my master bedroom floor.  It really does take quite a bit of time.  I did it as a way to break in the sander and getting used to how the sander feels.  Get a good quality ear plug and knee pad..  good investment if you are gonna do this.

the ro150 would be great at this.
get some 40,60 grit granat and let rip. the 40 grit will remove finish like nothing iv seen .
if the room was empty or very large it would take a long time and it would be better hiring a floor sander. when all the cabinets are there a floor sander will only do 1/2 the floorand will be hard to go with the grain.

I've heard there are different pads you can get for it.  Which one would be the best for my project?

So the time is coming fast when my wife's kitchen floor will need refininshing.  What do you guys recommend for a finish?
