Not sure if this is asked, but can anyone explain whats the difference? Besides the (insane) price difference (SA 3x the AR)  [eek]

I understand how the SA works, but not so much what the AR add to the mix  ::)

Is the AR not *just* the stop itself and not the entire unit including the bit that attaches to the rail?

Well, I'm not sure .. :(

I thought it was not, since the end has a pin as well. Hope someone can shed some light on this, the description is -once again- unclear.

Yes, I think Roachman is correct.  The photo on Festool usa site is misleading the SA is basically the entire unit and you need two of them.  The cheaper one is just the stop piece that slides along the bar with the measurements on it and doesnt include the rod or the clamp that attaches to the rail.

Oh, wait after looking closer the AR has an extra pin on the piece that would attach to the the rail.  Now Im a little confused what thats for.  The product description does say a replacement sliding stop flag. So it sounds like its just the one piece as previously thought but the photo is showing something Im not familiar with.  My LR 32 stops dont have that extra pin on it.

A said, AR-LR 32 is just an extra stop.

Whats with the 2nd pin? Where you connect it?

Are you saying its only the (black)block? So why the end looks completely different?

I think you're looking at pictures from an older type also.

Old type, all metal end:

Newer type, with plastic end:

Newer type, with extra stop:

As for how you would use the extra stop, I don't know, I don't own an LR-32. Do you think you need one?

Sorry, now I see (checked EKAT).

Very confusing picture, and to me, again a FT weird way of describing stuff. Hint: Just dim the irrelevant parts of the picture.

This picture suggests (to me) you get what is shown on the picture. But its what you shown, only the end-stop. Apparently there is some usage to put 2 on the the rod  [blink]

Absolutely true. Festool is horrible with pictures.

And I don't see why they can't make it work. I know of small retail shops that meticulously photograph every article they sell to give the customer an exact view of what they buy, but multimillion dollar Festool can't.

If they'd hire me and my photoshop for a month or two they'd have it all crystal clear.  [tongue]
