Interesting. A great series of adventures. Watched them all. All that food in the last couple vids made me hungry.
Ooop! Time to fix my own breakfast.
way back in the '30's, my uncle bought a small slip out at the tip (Provincetown)of cape cod. He build a bout repair "yard" and ran it for a couple of years before going broke. He let me "help" him work on one of the boats which was the first time any adult allowed me in one of their work areas. That was exciting. Also went lobstering with an old Portuguese fisherman who worked with my uncle in the boat yard. That was my first introduction to a Cape Cod Dorry. At first, it was somewhat scary when the old timer stood on the edge of the rail (I am not nautical and do not know all of the terms for the various parts of a boat.) to pull in a lobster "pot" full of lobsters. The edge of that rail would tip down to within a couple of inches of the water, but amazingly, the boat, no matter how much load was put on its edge, never went any further in its tipping. The design is apparently an invention from Yankee fishermen, probably around Cape Cod, hense name of the craft. I have seen them all along the New England coast, but not along Connecticut waters.
Your friend, Maddy, is having a great experience. She shows great self reliance. In the vids, where did she start? Where did she go? I could not understand all she said. She is competing with crickets, katydids and cicadas.
