So first post after being a lurker in the shadows for a while.... Thought it was about time i shared my problem.

After a change of job thats allowed me some more time to pursue my hobby I decided to build upon my small Festool collection that consisted of a CXS and the OF1010....

The first thing I decided i wanted was the TS55 as my Makita circ saw and a straight edge was slow to set up and i was not accurate enough on the repeatable cuts. So after shopping around i came to the conclusion that i may as well get a package deal that included the Midi dust extractor..... Once this arrived i decided a track bag and panther rip blade would be pretty useful so ordered them as well.... oh and a 800mm track and some connectors..... and a systainer mini!

Now this is the point at which i should have stopped.... I had a reasonably decent Metabo jigsaw..... but nope i decided i needed a Carvex and since i was ordering one it made more sense to get the base accessory systainer with it at the same time. Now as i was on the phone ordering this it suddenly dawned on me that an empty sys1 would be ideal for router cutter storage so thought may as well order one now and while i was getting free shipping.

so now this is where it really should have stopped, I had a biscuit joiner i had just bought recently that was "OK" but then i found out Dewalt had a 30 day no questions return policy....... Well i went out on Saturday with one lightly used Dewalt biscuit joiner and came back with a Domino DF500 and a separate systainer of dominos and cutters.

The worst bit..... this has all happened in the last 4 weeks!! If the other half finds out what i have spent it's curtains for me!

Anyway thats my story.... my names Pete and i have a problem!!

Welcome mate  [smile]
I've been binging for 10 months solid!
Thousand upon thousands spent  [eek]

Welcome to the FOG!  Just so you'll know, there is no cure.  :o :o  Nor is one needed!  It's the best disease you can possibly get!  ;D ;D

May see if i can get over to St Albas on the 18/19th... Never even knew there was a Festool dealer there.....I see Danger ahead!

Petey, welcome to the FOG. I didn't see a MFT/3 in there, so I assume you have a work bench of some type. You have a great collection of Festools. Next of course you will need sanders and sandpapers all in their own systainers. Please note I used the plural when talking about sanders. It seems one is not enough. Now you have an idea of why others have called it "the slippery slope". Good luck and enjoy your new Festools.

^^

Beat me to the sanders suggestion.  No Green Binge is complete without a sander or two.

Or 4  [embarassed]

In terms of workbench I have a poor mans MFT. It's basically a keyed folding bench with a CNC MFT type top that can he attached. It's obviously not the same but has served me well is easy to love around. Given I live in a flat (apartment for American friends) and have to walk round a side access to my back garden it is concise any for me for now.... Until I move next year..... Has reminded me I left out my set of fixed clamps, ratchet hold down clamp and parf dogs from the original collection of festool goodness (parf dogs are not official I know but they are good!)

In terms of sanders I already have a Bosch Gex125 that's served me well thus far. I did almost buy a Rotex last week when looking at 150mm Sanders but given funds had taken a hammering over the last few 3-4 weeks I went for a Metabo SXE450 turbotech.... Its dual orbit setting and the fact it comes in a Metabo systainer with sanding sheets and polishing mops for a shade under £195 won me over  [embarassed]

That's said I am sure I'll "need" a Rotex 90 at some point.....

i went to the truck tour last year. i already had the ctl midi and the ts55. on that day i bought the ehl planer. then i bought the cxs drill a couplea months later. then a kapex. then a of1010 router. then a ctl26. now the tour is local to me yesterday and today in darkest sunderland,. lucky for my wallet ive got no transport. ill have to catch up next year i guess.

You'd only be wasting your money on food, clothing, etc if you weren't buying Festool .. what's the problem? [wink]

Welcome!!

Welcome to the FOG, just one thing, unless Festool UK have changed their terms and conditions lately the trial period in the UK is only 14 days, not 30, so you had better try them all out PDQ if you have any inclination to send any of them back.

The US get a 30 day trial period, but they don't get the theft insurance that we do.

[member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member] might be able to confirm?
