There are a few factories in China that make "the real deal" for a variety of products. The day shift makes the "brand name", then the night shift makes the *exact* same product, just without any branding on it. They change colors slightly, and then go sell them on the market.
The sad thing is, they aren't lesser copies, they're the exact same materials, craftsmanship, and most importantly, design. So the notion that "if it's as good and a lot cheaper" simply means that they've stolen from Festool, but because it's as good as their product (it IS their product, just without their label), people will buy it.
I'm not saying that's the case here, but it's becoming an increasingly bigger problem for companies that have manufacturing done in countries with little or no respect for intellectual property laws.
