Looks interesting. But will only truly compete with Lamello when they're available for the 500 and useful for sheet goods.

It is a nice idea of course, but at almost 4 euro a piece I doubt many people are going to use it.

They even bring out a special systainer filled with the new Domino connectors (SV-SYS D14).
I think they are no competition for a Lamello Zeta because they can only be used in material of at least 30 mm thickness!
It's due to the D14 holes which has to be drilled with the Domino XL.

So we don't get to see the 4 holes dominoed in the second work piece? and at approx. 16euros per corner for a bed frame is not the cheapest solution

It was just concept demonstration. Actual design for bed frame is on the picture above: 1 domino-connector per corner (4 euro/corner). Compare this to any other bed hardware solution.
Although one end of that connector is held by essentially friction. Good enough for IKEA, but I'll pass on this one.

it would be two fittings per corner 8 euro's still pricey  I think the taped in part of the connector is spread by bolting on the black section,so not relying just on friction

It's not something I have any experience with, but I'm curious what would alternatives to that type of fixing on a bedframe be? Just wondering what might be unique/different about the Festool Domino Connectors to justify the cost? Also a little curious how much alternatives cost in comparison. Are the connectors 90% more expensive than alternatives, or 10%?

Not something I can see a need for personally as I don't do much work with joinery of that size, but I'm curious nonetheless.

Gary bed connector bolts would be around 50 pence each and involve a similar amount of work per fitting
but you do have the fitting showing on the outside of the frame

and you would be limited by the length of the bolt

Just Googled them - I see what you mean. Definitely cheaper but a world apart with regard to function and aesthetic.

I also noticed some half-moon fittings that you adjust with a spanner to pull the pieces together, but it looks like there would be multiple operations to drill the hole for the threaded insert, then for the threaded rod, then for the spacer for the half moon etc., and you'd still need some sort of jig to make sure they all align.

I can see how the ease of use of a single setting on the Domino DF 700, and a combination of standard Domino Tenons and the new Domino Connectors would make creation and assembly much quicker and more accurate. Perhaps that is where Festool are justifying the price?

I'm sure we're going to see some interesting uses once they're out in the field.
