I have a chance a purchasing this sander.
Any thoughts?

New old stock.  Never used.

would prefer one that fits the new edge sander.
But at the price I'd be happy to try modifying it.

Many thanks!

This is just a very old model, discontinued maybe 15 years ago.  The model that replaced it, ETS 125 EQ, is essentially the same machine so parts availability will not be a problem.  I'd suggest though that if you're considering buying it, factor in the price of a new pad - that one will be degraded and will probably fall apart when you try to use it.

Changed to new pad before sale.

It seems to me a pretty good price, the equivalent current model in our range is $600+

[eek]

I had to look this up to see if my eyes were deceiving me.  Yup, $635 AUD.  [blink]

That's a $205 USD sander here.  [crying]

Maybe I'll stop whining about some of the NAINA or "playing field leveling" pricing here in the US.  Maybe.

I agree. I noticed the nosebleed Australian prices on Festool items on E-Bay items.  Ouch!

If it is a good deal, go for it, it is a fine sander.

If you want it to fit the edge guide, a minute adjustment is all it needs to fit.

Personally I think the edge guide is rather overrated here.

Could you please tell me what the "minute adjustment" would be?

No prob if not.

The positioning aid has several projecting tabs that fit into a groove that's molded into the sander body/base shown here on a newer ETSC 125.

Here's a 14 year old ETS 125 without the requisite molded in groove.

Here's a newer Pro 5 (ETS 125) with the groove.
