Hi Aldo, Jay and the Entire In-Touch Team,

Thank you all for holding this Extravaganza! The similar event in 2011 was both a lot of fun and also educational.

In addition to registering for my ticket to the In-Touch Extravaganza, I made a hotel reservation for both Friday and Saturday nights.

Anyone participating or who will be in the Palm Desert area from the afternoon of Friday, 30 November to the morning of Sunday, 2 December wishing to meet of a meal or cup of coffee, please feel free to send me a FOG PM.

Several of us did so last year. Like the informal gatherings before and after Festool Training classes in Henderson and Lebanon, the Palm Desert get togethers last year added so much to the experience.

Aldo,

Awesome event. I wish I could make it.

Steve and Alan are bout the most knowlegeable people I know with festools .

Great people full of knowledge and eager to share it with anyone who asks.

Alan has even wanted to come to my garage shop to visit and answer any questions i have about the tools.

I will be taking him up on that offer when I get home.

Will anyone be video taping this so those of us who cant make will be able to enjoy some of the instruction?

Ron,

Allen is without a doubt very knowledgeable and great with Festool! You'll definitely enjoy having him over. We were hoping to do video tape at our training class last year, but unfortunately it wasn't possible. I don't think we'll be able to this year either, but if we can we will be sure to do so!

Hi Aldo,

My son-in-law George and I will see you in Palm Desert tomorrow morning.  I noticed that Carroll will be there...Any other Foggers plan to attend?  We sure had an informative and fun meeting last year.

Many thanks to In-Touch Tools of Palm Desert, Festool USA and Everyone,

For me this 2012 Extravaganza was about as good as a day gets. It was a chance to make many new best buddies and catch up on everyone's past year.

What a genius stroke for all business connected to In-Touch to hold the Extravaganza in their custom millwork and cabinet shop. No worries about being a couple of blocks from the Festool Store, because they brought the store to the Extravaganza.

During a break, Jay and his crew demonstrated the benefits of a CNC nested router and also a state of the art multi-stage CNC molder.

The demonstration was led by Steve Bace, Festool trainer to the stars, and Allen Kensley, Festool regional sales manager for much of Southern California, including Palm Desert, They showed us how to prepare solid lumber over 33mm thick to be glued up for a table top without a jointer, but with the Domino XL700.

The food, as always at an In-Touch event, was magnificent.

In-Touch also must have influence over the weather. I left my shop in Burbank on Friday morning at exactly 10:30 A.M. It was more than drizzling. On the east bound 210 and 10 freeways often I was in tropical downpours. Yet, as I neared the summit of the Banning Pass, I had dry pavement and clear blue skies in front of me and thunderheads in my rear view. In Palm Desert Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday morning it was clear and pleasantly warm.

Does life get better than being warm and dry, eating fine food, talking story with good buddies and seeing others build things with wood?

Would love to see how this is done. Has anyone taped it?

Hello Foggers!

Thank you so very much to those of you that were able to attend. We hope you are as content with the outcome of the Festool Extravaganza and training class as we are, and that you walked away with a range of new skills (and awesome gifts, of course!). There was a lot of effort put into the show to make it as enjoyable as possible for all of our guests, not just from us, but from Steve and Allen, as well as George Blanchfield, the guys at the shop, our sponsors, and many more. We had a blast with all of you and look forward to doing it again next year! We received lots of feedback from many of you, and we promise your feedback will be taken into consideration for our next event. On behalf of Jay, Maria, Grace, Denise, myself, and everyone else at In Touch "Thanks again!".

For those of you that weren't able to join us, I've attached some pictures so you can see what we had going on. We hope to see more of you the next time we host an event like this!

This was a very rewarding event.
As always I was impressed in how much useful information Steve can pack into a short amount of time; and for free.  What a nice thing for Festool to do. (yes I have purchased a tool after the demo; ETS 150/3 after seeing absolutely no swirl marks from sanding with it during the demo, and feeling so little vibration when he let me test it out;  I had to buy it).
I already have the XL Domi, still in the systainer unused, waiting for a larger project (actually, waiting for me to clean my shop up so I can FIT a larger project but I digress...)---the demo encouraged me to be a little less timid of working with a large project and more expensive lumber bill of materials.
The guys at the shop put on a great event.  Top notch fellas; thank you for your hospitality!
I brought my infant son and wife in at the end, and they had their dog---just a nice friendly place; she elbowed me and told me she wanted me to build a table soon after seeing what Steve did in such a short time, I'm less intimidated.
The location was nice, and with wife and son hanging out in the pool at the historic La Quinta Resort  (where apparently the author of It's A Wonderful Life wrote the screenplay)while I was in training, the entire family had a wonderful weekend (while it was raining back home over the mountain).
The demonstration of their high end shop machines was amazing.  If I come into a large project, I know I can count on them to fit the bill.  They also pointed out they would be willing to do smaller projects too.
Just so much value packed into the day.  Thank you for putting this on.
Carol it was a pleasure meeting and chatting with you.

Christopher

Aldo,
Thanks for posting the wonderful Extravaganza pictures.

It was a grand event.

Although it could be December 2013 before the next Extravaganza, I doubt I will wait that long to return to Palm Desert.

Unfortunately, we are unable to film the Festool trainers during training sessions. Maybe this is a project we can do at a later time, record, and upload for you guys to see. We'll look into it!

Christopher,

We are very glad to hear you were able to make a weekend out of your visit into our valley, with your wife and son. We loved having you guys over, and we're happy you took so much from the class. We look forward to working with you in the future!
