Hi

Can anyone tell me how effective Festool Fixed Clamps are without securing them from the bottom of the table, assuming that they just slot into the mft holes?  I am looking for a clamping solution but access under my table is limited.

Thanks

If you are talking about the clamps with the horizontal lever, I never use the screw on handle underneath.

If by Festool Fixed Clamps you mean the Clamping Elements (appears that different names are used in UK & NA), I generally use them fine without screwing in the below-table supports when I'm working on the top side of the workpiece.

However, it depends on the direction/angle of the force applied to the workpiece.  If you are doing a lifting action on the workpiece, or anything that creates rotation, then the clamps can pop loose.

The workpiece will lift off the table somewhat, though, more or less depending upon how much clamping force is dialed in.

Thank you folks, clamps named Fixed Clamps in the UK appear to be Clamping Elements in the US

Cheers

I never screw then in place and, as someone above has said, there may be a slight tendency for a bit of lifting with taller stock. They are great for holding irregular shaped pieces as you can use two of the stop ends and just one clamp piece or use them with my favourite Parf Dogs !
