You can also use it by inserting the backend into the D36 cuff and the front end into the 1 1/4" hand tool but I only do that when switching from the power tool to a hand tool for cleanup. If I'm doing a lot of cleanup I prefer to pull this out of the D36 cuff and insert a curved wand and then attach the curved wand to the hand tool.

see additional links in the product description.
The hose end cuff in picture 3 is the similar to the D36 cuff and would function in a similar manner.
For a curved wand you can use the Festool version. I prefer this tool instead and replace the Festool D36 cuff w/the cuff shown in the second link. Both the curved wand and the adaptor above snap in and lock into the replacement cuff shown in the third link.

So that first item converts the D36 hose (tool end) to a D27 (tool end) connector in one compact handy piece. Seems pretty useful [thumbs up]

When removed from the hose, Festool's Reducing Sleeve for the D27 (487071) will also fit into the D36's larger Reducing Sleeve, thus also converting the D36 hose... Just saying.

OK, so its basically the same thing. Does the Festool 487071 fit tight enough to stay in?
