Festool House Party 2013 is already under way. I would like to have a date set in stone by March 1st, so that all who wish to join us can make it. It will be held in Connecticut, since it is my idea and I live here. It will not be at my home shop again, bc we plan on having many more attendees and I plan on buying and building more stuff. I paid for this entire party out of pocket and as it grows will not be able to continue to do so.

Should we....

1) Contact Festool, which I already have and see if they want to team up with us and sponsor the event. We would hold it at a local hotel that does all the trade shows around here. This would enable people to fly in and spend the night. I only have one guest bed and Seth Semenza is doctored in.

If we take the suits money, we will almost definitely not be able to play with tools due to liability. Im not positive on that and I will speak to the necessary people and see what can be worked out, so we have it as an option. This started as a grassroots operation and I dont want to see some stupid lawyers ruin it.

2) Hold the event at the CT Valley School of Woodworking/Woodcraft, where BuilderBob and I are like family. Attendees would have to sign up on a website set up for the party and sign a liability waiver in order to play with tools. Lets be honest, looking at Festools can be done on the internet and if youre half a fan youve already spent hours staring at the latest catalog or own everything already.

The only downside is that we would have to charge a small fee for food and drink and for all you alcoholics, we might not be able to serve beer. Also anyone who would fly in,  would need to get a cab to the event, although Bob and I may be able to grab you?

We will be teaming up with someone and I want all of you to have a say in it? I will have a quote by today from a hotel and will get two more. If people were willing to pay we could do the event at the hotel without Festool, but it would probably be like $100 a head, maybe? I will let you know.

If anyone is interested in doing a presentation, please contact me. As of now, space is limited, thanks Eric

So I guess you're no longer doing carpentry?  Just parties/events and posting about them throughout the day, everyday, for who knows how many years?  Shane's going to have to buy more server space for the FOG.  [tongue]

For your 2013 or 2014 get together, may I suggest clowns, laser tag and pony rides?  How about a band?  Get Foghat!
