festool kapex 2015 burnt out

my mitre saw conked out yesterday whilst cutting some mdf skirting boards. thankfully on the last cut....

saw suddenly lost power and smoke out the top of the motor housing. now it runs really rough and slow..

its a 110v model a nd im in the uk

is this an easy ish sort of fix? or is it best off to ask festool for a price to get it repaired

I would contact Festool, their repair service is generally good.

A saw that age will have the old style motor which is known for burning out. They were repairing some saws that were out of warranty for free, I'm sure yours will be too old to qualify for that though.
