Festool Kapex Recall

I recently sent away my well-used 14 year old Kapex as part of the recall.  In addition to the recall work I asked the Festool service centre to recalibrate the saw - work I was happy to pay for.  I received the saw back 3 weeks' later.  In addition to the recall works the saw was completely overhauled to include the following: new mitre and bevel scales, new mitre lock, new bevel lock, part of the aluminium fence, new blade insert, broken blade guard mechanism replaced, broken rubber dust collector replaced and broken cable winder replaced.

The total cost for the non-recall work was a grand total of £0.00. What brilliant service!  So I just want to say a big Thank You to the Festool service team for their work.  I've used Festool for years, and never regretted the money I've spent.

Thank you.  Recent purchaser of a Kapex.  Good to know you’ve had good results over the years, and good service.
 
3 weeks for a repair ??

My Hilti tools almost never break down, but on the incredibly rare occasions that they do, repairs are turned around in 3 DAYS including courier collection, return delivery and an identical loan tool from the local rep.

3 weeks for a professional user isn’t ‘brilliant service’ - it’s an unmitigated disaster.

Perhaps the poster was talking about all sorts of extra stuff done for free and threw that in the mix when he used the phrase "brilliant service"?
 
I know Peter - and in that respect the OP was completely right. Getting all of that extra stuff FOC on an old machine is brilliant, no question - and fair play to Festool for going that extra mile. I was just making the point that the implications of tool unavailability for a pro and a hobbyist are totally different. No offence intended.
