I got the newsletter email from Lee Valley, with a good article and write up by Konrad Sauer who redesigned a "Badger Plane".

Here is the excerpt that prompted me to post this here (emphasis added is my own):
"And the tools I relied on were even more unusual. I needed to cut extremely accurate compound angles - something my table saw, bandsaw or even chop saw would not be able to do.  So I used my Festool track saw and worktable. I did some tests in plywood, with remarkable success. I took a few educated guesses at the angles and, in short order, I was pretty close."
