Festool of 1400 eq plus usa router metric?

I have a 574342 OF 1400 EQ plus usa but the scale on the router is metric.  Does this make sense?  Maybe it's just usa model because it's 120v 60hz?

According to the part number you have a metric model.  Use it well!

Most router techniques for depth now do not really rely on the scales.  Thickness blocks and other ways of setting depth are usually more accurate than the scales on the tools.

All Festool tools until ~2016ish had metric everything.  Then in the North American market they began only putting inch based scales on them. The router itself is still metric no matter the scales. All the internals, when you turn the knobs, it moves in metric increments.

This has nothing to do with the voltage/frequency.

Depends, as someone looking for a metric tool and the answer is yes, ask someone who prefers "imperial" and they will say no.

In general, when metric versions come up on sites like the festool recon site (site for reconditioned tools), metric tools disappear fast.

Right now, all festool tools are demanding a price since all the stores are out of basically everything. So you won't be able to determine if it is a metric/imperial issue.  I know on the routers, vendors sell the factor scales to replace on OF1010 and OF2200 routers to make them metric. I haven't seen anything for the OF1400, so I don't know if that has a harder conversion, if it is, then yes, it could hold more value than one in inch.

If you want an inch labeled one, I'd look to find someone looking for a metric unit and see if they want to do a swap (they get a metric unit, you get an inch unit). If you are just looking to sell, well, you are in a good time to sell no matter what.

My OF1400 is METRIC.
Adjusting from IMPERIAL to METRIC took a little doing at first -
But now I prefer METRIC - It’s much easier to work with.
Even better - Like Peter - I prefer using GAUGE BLOCKS whenever possible.
They’re - SIMPLER - PRECISE - And REPEATABLE.
