Hi,

ive been looking at the pre seperator recently. today i went to empty the bag and it ripped.... then the zip broke (not the reusable festool bag it was an aftermarket bag. )

anyway that bag is now ripped up and in the bin.

so i mostly use the midi vac. is that compatible with the pre seperator? just my van is mostly set up to carry the midi vac. i also have a ct26 vac bur it doesnt get used as much.

cheers

All vacs are compatible with the pre seperator. All from Festool, all from other brands.

was thinking if it would work with the length og the hose that goes to the machine. plus the tool sales sites in the uk state ct 26/36 etc but obv the midi is a ctl midi

Hi fin,

I think you don’t need an adapter to work with the new Mini/Midi.
But in case, you can buy this adaptor (Which is made as an adaptor for the DC hose that comes with Festool”s table saws, especially for the smaller FT DC”s) It extends the inlet by ca. 50cm”s and can protrude the front of the DC. I have two, and use them for various tasks. It’s 50mm in both ends, one end with a connecting sleeve that extends the DC inlet.
Here, a snip from a Danish dealer”s page: (Note the part no”, it is buried deep on FT pages somehow, and is difficult to spot)

I have been using the pre-separator with a Midi, CT26 and a 48 over the last few months. It has worked great with all three vacs and it didn't require anything special to use with my Midi.
I should mention that some time back, I replaced the 90 degree connector on the midi hose with a straight connector. So now my midi hose is just like my other hoses with straight connectors on both ends. But I consider that to be independent of being able to use the pre-separator with the midi.

It's just a box with a hose. If the hose doesn't fit right away, you make a little adaptation, and voila.

so they work alright also? like a good buy? am sick of emptying the bags all of the time

I haven't used the Festool cyclone, but cyclones in general work great and catch most of the dust you generate. I build my own for about 40 euros. The cyclone cost €30, a few clamps and a bit of scrap wood. I already had the hoses anyway from my Midi and CS70.

I am sure Festool engineered their cyclone to do a great job.

With the new MIDI (with BT) you need ro change the adapter. My CT came with a 90 degree, and doesn’t fit on the MIDI side.

Works great. But I have no comparison.

I even use this it as a VAC + CT with the 50 mm hose. Now you need to move a bit slower, but it works fine.

I think you will be fine then. On the new version they moved (deepend?) the hose port, and the 90 degree doesn't fit. You need the "straight" variant.

Have a look here (some pics of the new so you can compare):https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/festool-ctl-midi-i-(bt)-ct-va-20-the-correct-hose-adapter-(you-will-need-it)/
