Festool PRICE

Well we're 'off topic' here, but I guess this thread started off as a review of how our festools cost more elsewhere and then how other tools also cost more outside the US for some reason, then the affect of VAT versus sales/use tax, and now will hopefully degrade into a through discussion of globalization, offshore accounting, and macroeconomics.

I, for one, love paying taxes. I only wish my tax rate was higher. I'm thinking that I might try to buy my next Festool from the UK, pay the VAT for it, see if I can fit some export/import duties in there, and then pay my state's use tax on it, and avoid writing it off as a business expense so I can still pay income tax on it.

Graphex - you are one sick puppy! ;D

Note to self:  Don't move to the garden state and send property tax bill to Graphex. ;)

I could arrange for you to pay my taxes if you'd like  ;).

I really don't want to deprive you of that pleasure. Plus, you'd have to report that payment as income, so it would be impossible for me to pay all of your taxes anyway. Of course, if you're getting income from me, you'd either have to be an employee (where I'd have to pay unemployment tax, social security tax, payroll tax, and probably a couple others) or you'd be a subcontractor and I'd have to get you a 1099.

I knew there was some reason that I had that Beatles song, Tax Man, stuck in my head! How does it go? Here's one for me 19 for you... wait, that's backwards. I'm the taxman, and here's one for you nineteen for me, ... and you're working for no one but me!

So what would happen if I bought that plane for you at about $275 Euro's and shipped it to you as a gift? What would it cost then for imprt duties, taxes, etc?

Dan,

I'm not sure what the import duty for planes is, but I'd be delighted to receive a few gifts like that in the post! Feel free any time.... :D
