Festool RO150E

Recently picked up one of these sanders from a mate for nothing (wasn't working).  I managed to get it going by fixing a break in one wires in the power cord.

I was thinking about using this sander as an RO polisher to do a couple of cars but I don't know if the backing plate on the machine is suitable for this and also what sponges/pads are compatible.  Ive attached images of the machine and backing plate (The hook and loop pad measures ~145mm in diameter)

Im just wondering if I can put a 150mm cutting sponge on it and polish cars or if I need something else.

thanks but they appear to be for a different model the backing plate on the one I have is held on by a Allen key bolt.

Also I see you are from pretty much the same area as me.  Do you know any where in Melbourne/geelong that stock a lot of bits for Festool tools?

For the older Rotex 150 you need the M8 screw model #496152.

BTW welcome to the FOG. It would help if you include your location in your profile then you will get responses relative to your area.

You should have no problems getting the correct parts but identifying the part numbers is usually best done on EKAT. I prefer to use the one attached to the Ideal Tools website as the one on the FOG is the US one.

Your sander is under Machining surfaces/Surface preparation/Eccentric sander/RO 150 E - ROTEX and then you have a choice of 8 models all called RO 150 E. Festools websites are not the easiest to use as they really try hard to hide information and as you will find the pads are not listed so you need to get access to a catalogue or find someone who knows.
