I have located a Festool Router table on clearance that appears to be an older discountinued model.

Can anyone tell me the differences between the older model and the new one and will I care about the missing features?

I am not an expert, but I thought there was only one Festool router table, OK two between the VL (attaches to MFT/3) and GE (free standing), both currently available, but an older model..? Did you get a part number or pictures perhaps?

Maybe I'm wrong. Just have seen it at two different Festool Dealers at a discount. Since they are only allowed to discount discontinued part numbers I've assumed it is an older version.

Interesting... maybe they discount them as floor samples..? As far as I know, both versions are available and not discontinued

Before the CMS there was the Basis system which took different modules. It was based on the MFT1080 extrusions and doesn't have the V groove on top and is a different height to the MFT/3.

The basis system acceptes all of the CMS modules plus it has a few for the old, now superceeded, saws.

It can take the CMS-OF for the router but not any of the sliding or extension tables.

I use mine attached to an MFT1080 with an Incra fence mounted on the 1080 whenever I get really sick of the Festool fences lack of easy adjustability and slopiness.
