How are my fellow Canadians buying their Festools?  Originally I ordered from the U.S, but now only Hafele seems to be able to sell Festool stuff.
Unfortunately, they still don't seem to offer a ready way to order via the internet.

What is the pricing like compared to the U.S. nowadays?

Any information or advice would be appreciated.

Hey HappyCamper,

I order from a US retailer and have it shipped to a bordertown and either pick it up myself or have a friend pick it up next time they cross into the US for gas or milk  ;D

Where do you live?

Most of the time I  havemy Festool orders shipped to a friend in the USA, then arrange to have them send or bring it to me or I pick it up from them.

Happy,

It is possible to order from Hafele via the internet if you have an account.
Trying to find the items from their on line system is a royal pain though.
I find it easier to call Sean with the Festool USA catalogue in my hand and order using the Festool part numbers.

They don't stock the full range that Festool USA does, but they will special order it for you (e.g; boom arm).
I didn't have any luck getting  them to import items from Festool in Europe either.
Their prices are somewhat higher here, but there doesn't seem to be a consistent percentage. You would have to call.

Thanks for the information.  It seems that things have not improved since they took over the exclusive distribution rights.
They have been promising a better system from day one, but it looks like no progress has been made.  I think the way things
are handled is greatly limiting the market for this tool in Canada.

I live in Victoria, B.C., so hopping over the border is not so easy as when I lived in Vancouver.  However, I will be doing some renovations in
Tsawassen this summer, so I can see.  I will also try Hafele.  However, I like to know a price and then think about it for a bit.  Not easy with
Hafele.  I really wouldn't mind paying a higher price, as going to the states is also a hassle.

Cheers,

Hafele's prices are pretty much about 15% higher then the US price and you now have to pay shipping.

I have my stuff shipped to Point Robert's just south of Tsawwassen

Now there's a great idea.  How do you get it shipped to Point Roberts?
Do you get it shipped to a bond warehouse (not sure if they even have them there), or P.O. box or what have you?

I notice that some dealers offer free shipping on Festools within the U.S.  Would a shipment to Point Roberts qualify for that?

Questions, questions, I know but the devil is in the details.

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

I just purchased an RO 150 FEQ, CT 22 and a variety of abrasives from Hafele Canada.
Order was placed through Sean on Thursday and was delivered next day by 2:00pm.

Price certainly is higher than US which I have a great deal of difficulty understanding but I had to decide on the trade off between convenience and a 2 hour trip to Buffalo and back plus the delays associated with border crossing.
I will say that Sean is becoming more competent with the Festool line but I still had to have a converstaion with Mark St. Pierre who appears to be Hafele's most knowledgeable Canadian sales rep. (and a nice guy also)

I am very surprised that Festool leaves Canada so under serviced. It seems to me that it could be a great market for the company if they just increased their delivery network as they have in the US.
I continue to hope that some changes will happen soon.

Cheers,  Don

Ship it to TSB Shipping

Their are other places as well but that is the one I have used for quite awhile now.

They will charge you $3 for the service and will e-mail you when the parcel arrives

Happy,

I use Point to Point Parcel in Point Roberts and yes it qualifies under free shipping.
I like to drive down and see Bill & Darcy @ Festool Supply, they are great people and are certainly worth the drive.
