Festool table saw & Shopsmith??

You know, this reminds me of when I was an apprentice plumber back in the mid-60's and still doing residential work. I was cutting backing for some showerheads & valves when I noticed the general contractor, who went by the nickname "Stumpy", using his own version of this idea; an inverted skillsaw mounted under a plywood top, traveling on rollerskate wheels. I was about to ask If I could try it when I was put off by him puffing on a cigarette. Not so much his using his thumb & middle finger to hold it, but the stub in between his two digits kept me silent and wide eyed. Since Stumpy's idea of advancing the blade using a foot pedal left a little to be desired, in my opinion, I'm sure glad that Festool has seen fit to advance the blade by using your hand to pull it forward. Less chance of your dog underfoot ruining your day.

I've got an old antique Craftsman contractor ts sitting (almost) forgotten in a corner of my basement that also has the sliding blade mechanism.  Bought it back when I had more time than money, but never got it fixed up enough to use.  Gotta get rid of that thing one of these days!
