Okay, so this is no biggie but it was a surprise to me. YouTube popped a video from "The Old School Carpenter" up into my recommended list and, after watching, I checked out his other videos. One was titled "Festool LZK-HM Denibbing Spot Repair Tool. Apparently, it is intended to scrape off little dust nibs on painted surfaces. Don't know if it would be useful for us woodworkers on finish runs or drips. Seems to be a $76 glorified razor blade.

To my surprise, I found it on the U.S. site. Not on Amazon. Seems to be aimed at the automotive industry as the following page states "This accessory is just one part of the Festool Total Automotive Sanding System"

Thanks, Oliver. The blurb on the new version you mentions has a bit more explanation than previously. It does seem handy so I went ahead and ordered one!

If I am correct, both are current products with slightly different applications.

The one you found is a „de-nibber“, as you stated correctly.
I have bought one a couple of years ago and it always proves helpful to eliminate the odd drip or bubble in a paint finish.
I would recommend this for anyone who is not well versed at painting, like me. ;)

The one Oliver linked to, is targeted at edge-banding, as he stated.

Mirka has one called the „shark balde“ de-nibber.

The Festool one has a higher density and more weight, leading me to assume better quality carbide being used.

I've used the 499749 for breaking sharp edges on hard wood boards. Just make sure you go with the grain.

The real interesting thing is those small numbers are not laser marked but rather laser cut..as in all the way through.  [cool]

Be very careful not to drop it on a concrete floor.....It will shatter into lots of pieces!.....Dont ask me how I know, but needless to say I now have one that looks like a carbide jigsaw puzzle.....  [crying]
