  • What's the difference between Festool and Tanos systainers?
    They are competing companies right?
Does anyone notice a quality difference between the two?

Thanks

Festool Systainers are built by Tanos.
Tanos is a different company also owned by the same parent company TTS...

No difference between the product other than branding and colors. :)

Festool Systainers have a reinforcing bar across the back at the pivot pin level. Otherwise, except for the obvious differences they are the same.
Huh, I did not know that! Does it actually make a difference?

True the Tanos systainers that I have purchased do not have the reinforcing bar.  As far as Festool branded systainers, some do, some do not and I don't see a consistent approach.  My limited edition blue Festool Sys 2 also lacks the reinforcing bar as do two Sys MFTs that I purchased.  However my TS55, T18, Domino and RO90 all have reinforcing bars of two different types.  One style has slotted holders for the saddles that hold levels or small parts bins, while the other style is simply flat.  I have purchased a number Festool systainers from Germany and had them shipped to the US and the same systainer can have either type of reinforcing bar.  It's a mystery.  [big grin]

Whether they matter or not, I don't know but my limited edition Sys 2 without the reinforcing bar arrived with two broken hinges in a box with absolutely no signs of packaging damage.  On the other hand, on a sample of 7 Tanos systainers which lack the reinforcing bar, none were ever received damaged.

Oh that bar thing! I thought that was just for holding little plastic cup/tray/divider units that slide into the slots (three of them). I doubt that piece adds any "reinforcement".

It does actually. Stiffens the back panel.  The original version shown in one of the pics above is smooth / rounded and serves no other purpose. I am not sure it is necessary though. I have removed a few for space reasons.

I just and looked at mine, some of my Festool cases have that bar, others do not. It's a mix.  Only thing for most that make it festool is festool is molded into them.
