Festool Work App - IT WORKS!

Can't get the bloody app to pair with 5.2Ah batteries, part 202479.  I have 6 batteries, all will pair with the phone, but the App just won't work.  Always get an 'Ooops...' error.

It's driving me nuts.  Anyone else having the same trouble?  Any ideas on what to do/try?

Got a push notification this morning via the App saying an update was required...completed that and now it works, perfectly.

No longer prompted to sign-in via the website - It's native, in-app.  Great first step.

I was also able to add my BT batteries without any problems.

Credit where it's due (even if it took longer than it should have),  NOW the app provides the experience it should.

If you've been having trouble with it before and maybe gave up, re-install it and give it another go.

Still not available in the USA. Why, [member=6061]festool[/member] ?

Nor in Canada either yet it is advertised on the Festool Canada webpage????  Seriously Festool, I drank the green Koolaid and bought my first Tracksaw because of the ecosystem, bluetooth, app etc.

What is the hold up?

Did any of them need updating?

I don't mind picking up a cheap Android tablet for this but still would prefer the iOS version.

Is this common for Festool to do things like this?  Or is it just a one off.  I ask because there looks like a number of other nice apps but none here, just spam "shopping" apps.

My guess is it's a combination of a number of things:

Different privacy laws in the US vs EU for apps and data.

Different app authorization channels in the US and EU for both Apple and Android.

Possible UL certification concerns for bluetooth batteries and firmware.

Lack of knowledgeable staff in FUSA for support of the app.

Lack of pressure from the competition to keep up in this area.

My understanding is that FUSA is wholly dependent on Der Fatherland yet has a completely different contract with Festool than Festool Europe has; this app thing is among the many differences that come as a result of that (see also: which tools come here vs. which don't, etc).

Its been a couple of months since I checked, but I don't recall that any of them needed a firmware update.

I have 2 x 5.2 and 2 x 4.0 from the Energy Set. Also have 2 x 5.2 from TSC 55 and 2 x 4.0 from a C18 off recon.

It is pretty neat seeing stats for the batteries, like charge level, number of cycles, temperature (I think) and also a locating function.

Well you can rule out using VPN to get the app.  I went through all the hoops to get onto the UK store, downloaded the app and tried to login, "Sorry we don't support the language set in your account".

So I created another free account, got the same error.  I suppose it's pulling it from the phone.

Used windows PC and VPN set to UK, was able to create a new account.  Used that account to login to Festool Work and voila, finally logged in.

Was able to add my Bluetooth batteries and CT module.  Pretty cool, lots of in it but no updates yet.

Hopefully they get their act together and add USA/Canada.
