Finally bought a kapex but how robust on site or in van

Well I finally sold my old van and have used the cash to buy a kapex, ug stand and wings. Have had a play with it and so far it is every thing I expected it to be and more. My only concern is transporting the thing. Is it best to leave it on the stand lashed down in the van or taken off the stand and laid on the floor? Can it be knocked out of alignment? And is there anything I should do with it that will improve performance etc before it has to earn a living..
Also contrary to previous threads I think the finish of the castings and paint on my saw are of good quality with no rough edges or chips
Kind regards jools

Hi Jools

Although I do not move my saw from site to site I have spoken to several people that do. The key is to make sure that you secure the clamping screw to stop the saw moving on the twin shafts. Also, engage the hold down lock (green push/pull knob on right of head). Even when moving the saw from one bench to another I avoid holding it by the movable mitre section, instead I hold the main frame on the left and right.

The only time my saw went out of true was when I hit the mitre lock with a big lump of wood (4 x 4 or 5 x 5 post that fell). Get a copy of Rick Christopherson's excellent US Supplemental Manual and realignment becomes a doddle.

Thanks for the advice peter. Amongst an amazing amount of packaging was a piece of plastic pipe that snaps over the slide arm stopping all chance of movement even if the screw should loosen during transport. I have retained it and also discovered it can be parked on the ug frame which is the same diameter. Is this chance or design?

I don't have the Kapex, but I think a lot of people store on the stand.  If you strapped like you did with the MFT I think you would be fine.

I have transported my Kapex for 4 years in ways that would probably cause gasps by members here without an issue of knocking it out of alignment.

If you are transporting it and storing it on the UG stand, you might want to keep an eye out for oil seepage.  That has been reported by some here.  If you see that it might be a good idea to store it horizontal versus vertical.

+1 to everything that Peter H. wrote. I regularly transport my Kapex on the cart and haven't had problems. This includes rolling over a lot of rocky/uneven ground and up/down innumerable flights of stairs.

All of the advice above is good. I transport my Kapex on my UG Stand in the rear of my van quite a lot. I have noticed that the saw will move on the bevel sometimes. I make it a habit to look at the bevel gauge and tilt the saw back to zero when I first move the saw to the horizontal position on the stand.

Iv never had an issue with my and it loaded in and out the van ever day. ALso have a bit of a lead foot and tend to brake quite hard.  Only advice is put it in the van with the wheels up against the bulk head of the van in the up right ( how you have it now if that makes sense)I've found it won't move at all. I used to load it the way you have it in the pic. But if you have to slame the brakes on it can slide. Also I don't tie my down in any way hope it help and puts you mind at ease
