Finding a safe way to remove Freud Bits wedged tightly storage case

I just noticed that Steve asked his question a long time ago and likely has solved his problem by now  [big grin].  But in case it helps someone else, I have grabbed a bit in a situation like this with a spring clamp.  With the rubber tips padding the contact with bit there is no risk of damaging the carbide, and it's easy to pull the bit out of the hole it's in.

While I have the Plastic Case Versions like Seth and others have mentioned, they have the same issue with the holding collet of sorts not letting go of the router bit when you need to remove it. I've taken to sanding the ID of the plastic bushing/collet or filing material off of it with a regular round file in an effort to lose some of the grip those pieces of plastic have on the bit shanks....  Seriously, how tight do they need to be?...... [mad] [mad] [mad]

I'm surprised that this is still an issue, what with attorneys and all becoming woodworkers. I'm an insurance agent, and this is a HUGE product liability suit just waiting to happen  [scared].

It certainly drew blood from me the first time I opened one of these sets......
