Fine adjust for OF 1010?

Regarding a new to me 1010...

Which is the more appropriate fine adjuster for the guide stop?  I want to be able to micro-adjust on the rail.  Is it 488754 or 483358?  Or if both work, which is better for the aforementioned application?

The fine adjuster 483358, is only threaded, so adjustments are hit or miss. If you want fine adjustment (1/10mm) I believe you also need to add a 488754 somewhere. I think that’s correct.
I have all of these items for my 1010 but eventually just gave up and ordered a MicroFence product instead.

One is more for use when using the router on a guide rail, and one is more for use when using the edge guide on the router. Thats the way I looked at it. Though I think the 488754 can be used to do both and in a few other creative ways Ive seen around the net.

I’m with Ben on this one.
The 1st photo shows fine adjuster 483358 on the LH side, above it the fine adjustment 488754 and on the RH side the guide stop 488752.

The fine adjuster 483358 is threaded but has no markings on it so micro adjustment would be impossible. It would be used with the edge guide 489427.

The guide stop 488752 also has no markings on it and is set with thumbscrews. If the fine adjustment is inserted, then micro adjustments can be made.

Photos 2&3 give you an idea of how it works. Note the position of the blue tape and the amount of the rod that is visible in the lower LH corner on each photo. All adjustments were done using the fine adjustment 488754.

It’s kind of kludgey...not Festool’s best foot forward.

Thanks, especially for those photos.  The kludginess of the solution is rather surprising.  As it turns out, I already have 488752 when I got it with the angle arm to use for flush-trimming with the 1400 (talk about another kludgy solution) so I'll see how it works with the guide stop.  Truth is when I posed my original question I just wanted some fine (non-graduated) adjustment - which 483358 exactly accomplishes.  But the more I think about it, I'd rather spend a little more and go whole hog than spend a lot and go halfway. 

I don't mind cheap kludgy, but I'm getting tired of pricey kludgy.  Gonna take a hard look at the Microfence setup.  They ever have any sales?  And would you have to buy it twice for more than one router model (e.g. 1010 and 1400) or can be easily adapted to go between?

Micro Fence does have sales (join their mailing list) and the system can be adapted between MANY different routers with just a couple parts purchased for each. I have their setup and use it with my OF 1010 and OF 1400 and with the guide rail. It takes a bit to understand all the parts you need from their system to make it all work and do what you want it to do, but once you figure it out its pretty cool. Pricey though.

Thanks.  Any issues with their baseplates on your Festool routers?  My impression from a quick look through their site is that the track guide and the edge guide are two different products, and having both capabilities would total around $500.  Does that seem right to you?

I'm in the midst of shop downsizing/dismantling, so the MF products seem like a tool-to-the-work version of my space-gobbling Incra router cabinet.

I swap out the MicroFence between the 1010, 1400 and MFK 700.  [big grin]

Just returned from Woodcraft and this is Festool’s guide stop for the 1400. It’s a lot more elegant solution than the kludgy 1010 setup.

Their Universal Router Plate is drilled to whatever router you intend to use it with. You can have one Universal Router Plate (LINK) drilled for both the OF 1010 and OF 1400, but I only use the Universal Router Plate with my OF 1400 personally. I only use the Universal Router Plate when using the setup with the Clamp Interface Slide for use with a guide rail (LINK). When using edge guide alone or with the Circle Jig Attachment (LINK) you dont need the Universal Router Plate. You will need mounting bars for each router that you intend to use the system with (LINK). The one the kits come with are only used with the Universal Router Plate.

I'd give them a call or shoot them an email. They really are good at explaining their system and making it all make sense. Thats how I figured out what I needed to buy to make it all work.

I’ve been talking with Rich at Micro Fence and he said that he will not drill a router plate for use on both a 1010 & 1400. He mentioned something about it not being optimal because of all the holes that are already in the plate. I then asked if I could purchase a blank plate and he referred me to his vendor because Rich only orders predrilled plates.

I talked with the vendor and they said I’d have to wait until Rich orders more plates because manufacturing only 1 would be cost prohibitive. I get that. 

I’m  now thinking about just fabricating my own phenolic plate.
