Well my first project completed with my new Festool gear and I must say I am very happy with the end result even though it was a very steep learning curve and I made a few mistakes.

Design brief was a Kapex stand (I don't have a lot of space in my workshop) and a sys port. I wanted the Kapex stand to be 1mm higher than my MFT and the same width. I also wanted to be able to use the Systainer 1 with the MFT top to rest my TS55R on when using the MFT. I also wanted to be able to access and open the Systainer Tool box. Storage of the Rails was another concern so I incorporated that as well.

The back was left open for now and I will be building storage for the fences and so forth for the MFT when not in use.

It was made out of 18mm MDF and pine. Primed and Painted in epoxy enamel for a hard wearing finish. And good quality castors.

Bookmarked with every intention of stealing most of these ideas!

I've got a mitre saw stand as one of my first projects too

Well done

That looks awesome.  You went the extra mile obviously with a very nice finish.  Very polished and professional looking.  Kudos!  [smile]

Thank you everyone for the positive comments

Richard
You are more than welcome to use the ideas ....thats why we share :).

No it is not shimmed I made it to the exact height that I wanted. I just measured the height of the castors and then built a box up from that so the bed of the kapex was approximately 1mm above the mft.

Finish was very important to me as I was using MDF due to my expenditure on the tools LOL. I wanted it to last so I sprayed a primer coat and then a metal epoxy enamel. It only has one coat of each and came out like that. All I used to spray it was a wagner fine sprayer and only used about 250ml of paint. It dried hard as a rock and is very easy to clean up any sawdust etc because of the smooth finish. All up it cost me approximately $200 including the paint, castors, drawer slides, MDF etc etc and was made using dominos and glue.
I am making something similar for my MFT and CMS to sit on so I can move it around easier and will do the same finish on it.

That is a beautiful finish.  Like the design.  That is going to be my next project once I recoup from last Festoy purchase.

We need a cheap wine branded "Festool Regret" that sells for a dollar a bottle (can't waste too much money on wine, need to save for the NEXT Festool purchase).

Very nice!  I have a terrible habit of not spending the time and energy that I should on shop furniture.  Seeing things like this on the FOG are an inspiration to pay as much attention to the stuff I build for my shop as I spend on the money-makers.
